Heat the oil in a 11" pot over medium heat. Add the Italian ham pieces and the onion and cook until the onions are soft and the ham is crispy (+/- 6-8 minutes).
Add the peas and 1 tablespoon of water to the onions and ham. Bring to the boil and shake regularly (with lid) for 3 minutes. Finish with pepper and a little salt (the ham already gives a salty taste).
