TIP!: Growing potatoes in a plant pot: 

Step 1: Mix the soil
Combine two parts potting soil, two parts coconut fiber, and one part perlite. A 40-liter bag of organic potting soil for vegetables, fruit, and herbs is ideal for this mix.

Step 2: Fill the pot
Fill your plant pot to approximately 15-20 cm. This provides enough space for the potatoes to grow.

Step 3: Plant the potatoes
Place 2 to 3 pre-sprouted seed potatoes per pot. Mix a little compost or a handful of organic fertilizer into the potting soil to give the potatoes extra nutrients. Make a hole in the soil and place the seed potatoes in the pot with the sprouts facing upwards. Fill the pot the rest of the way and water the plants for the first time.

Step 4: Place the pot in a sunny spot
Place your pot in a sunny location so that the potatoes get enough light to grow.

Step 5: Maintenance and watering
Check the soil moisture regularly by inserting your fingers about 5 cm into the soil. If the soil is still moist, no extra water is needed. Too much moisture can cause the potatoes to rot.

Step 6: Harvesting
Early potatoes can be harvested from mid-July to early August, as soon as the plants stop producing new flowers and stop growing. Late potatoes can be harvested after the foliage has died back.
