Cassis berry (Ribes nigra 'Titania') ORGANIC - 2 liter pot

Blackcurrant 'Titania' is a vigorous, self-pollinating shrub that produces full clusters of black berries in July. The shrub grows vigorously to approximately 1.5–2 m tall and blooms in spring with small greenish-yellow flowers. Thanks to its high yield and disease resistance (including mildew and rust), this is a reliable variety for the garden or pot. It grows best in fertile, moist soil in a sunny to partially shaded location. Blackcurrants are best known for their use in desserts or as cassis syrup.

Tips and care:

• Planting: September to March, later is also possible, but keep in mind that you'll need to provide extra water in warm weather as the roots aren't yet well established. The currant grows as a shrub and therefore doesn't require support.
• Pruning : Currants should be pruned in the fall. They don't require much pruning, especially not in the first few years. However, if the plant becomes too large or yields decline, some pruning may be necessary.
• Open ground or pots: you can grow all soft fruit in pots; the larger the pot, the better they will do. They will always grow better and produce more fruit in the open ground.
