Morado garlic (winter planting stock) is a beautiful hardneck variety originating from Spain, recognizable by its striking deep red skin and white cloves. This winter garlic combines a complex, sublime flavor with high productivity and is ideal for use in the kitchen, partly due to the ease with which the skin peels off.
Hardneck garlic has fewer but larger cloves and a powerful, full flavor, and is highly resistant to cold winters, but has a slightly shorter shelf life.
- Planting period: in open ground, October – December
- Planting distance: 15 cm between plants, 25 cm between rows
- Planting depth: 5 to 10 cm deep (in loose soil, the garlic can be planted deeper)
- Harvest time: late June to mid-August
