Messidor is a reliable winter planting garlic that you plant from October to December. During the winter, it develops a strong root system, after which it grows vigorously in the spring into beautiful, full bulbs. This variety is known for its high yield, good winter hardiness, and excellent storage quality.
Softneck garlic is known for its excellent shelf life (up to 10–12 months!). The bulbs have a mild, accessible flavor and stay firm for a long time.
- Planting period: in open ground, October – December
- Planting distance: 15 cm between plants, 25 cm between rows
- Planting depth: 5 to 10 cm deep (in loose soil, garlic can be planted deeper)
- Harvest time: end of June to mid-August
