Blackcurrant (Ribes nigra 'Titania') ORGANIC - 2 litre pot

Blackcurrant 'Titania' is a strong, self-pollinating shrub that treats you to full clusters of blackcurrants in July. The shrub grows vigorously to approximately 1.5–2 m tall and blooms in the spring with small, greenish-yellow flowers. Thanks to its high yield and disease resistance (including against mildew and rust), this is a reliable variety for the garden or a pot. It grows best in nutrient-rich, moisture-retentive soil in a sunny to semi-shaded spot. The blackcurrant is best known for its use in desserts or as blackcurrant syrup.

Tips and care:

• Planting: September to March; planting after this is possible, but keep in mind that you will need to provide extra water during warm weather because the roots are not yet well established. The currant grows as a bush and therefore does not require support.
• Pruning: the currant should be pruned in the autumn. However, the plants do not need much pruning, especially in the first few years. If the plant becomes too large or the yield decreases, some pruning may be necessary.
• Open ground or pots: you can grow all small fruits in pots; the larger the pot, the better they will do. They will always grow better and produce more fruit in open ground.
