Ribes rubrum 'Gloire des Sablons' is a charming French heirloom variety of redcurrant, known for its delicate, light pink, almost translucent berries. These berries are not only visually appealing but also have a delicious sweet and slightly tart flavor. They ripen in July and are perfect for fresh consumption, making jam, jelly, or as a garnish for desserts.

Bare root, what does that mean?
Bare root means that a tree or shrub is supplied without a pot and without soil around the roots. The advantage is that bare-root plants are more economical than potted plants. However, the planting period is limited to the winter months. Before planting, it is recommended to soak the roots in water for several hours and then plant the shrub directly into the ground. Bare-root plants are always sold without leaves, otherwise the bare roots would dry out. It is best to plant the shrub in the garden as soon as possible, but temporary potting is also possible.

• Planting: November-March
• Pruning: the redcurrant should be pruned in the autumn. However, the plants do not need much pruning, certainly not in the first few years. If the plant becomes too large or the yield decreases, some pruning may be necessary
• Organic/non-organic: this planting stock comes from a small-scale nursery, without an official organic certificate. But don't worry, we are confident that it is poison-free.
• Open ground or pots: you can grow all small fruits in pots; the larger the pot, the better they will perform. They will always grow better and produce more fruit in open ground.
