Patio apple tree (Malus domestica 'Galina') – 5-litre pot

Galina is a compact, self-pollinating apple tree that fits perfectly on a patio, balcony, or in a small garden. The medium-sized, round apples are yellow-green with a beautiful red blush and have a juicy, sweet-fresh flavor, ideal for eating fresh or using in pies and desserts. In April-May, the tree blossoms profusely with white-pink flowers, and the apples are ready to harvest in September. An added advantage: the apples can be stored until January.

• Pruning: thanks to the slow-growing rootstock, pruning is hardly necessary. Do you want to keep the tree extra compact? Then prune lightly in winter on a frost-free day. Remove dead or crossing branches for a healthy, airy structure.
• Ground or pots: Galina thrives in a large pot on the patio or balcony. In the open ground, the tree grows slightly more vigorously and produces more fruit. Always choose the largest pot you have.
• Support: provide support in the first year with a sturdy stake and tree tie so that the tree is protected against the wind, especially once it starts bearing fruit.
• Watering: water regularly, especially during dry periods and certainly in the first year after planting. Water more frequently in pots than in the open ground.
