Key features:

• Harvest: July - first frost (staggered)
• Flavor: sweet, rich blackberry flavor
• Fruit color: glossy black
• Thorns: no (thornless varieties)
• Location: sun to partial shade
• Self-pollinating: yes

Tips and care:

• Planting: plant the bushes from September to March. Provide extra water during hot weather after planting.
• Support: guide the branches along a trellis, fence, or wires stretched between posts for the best harvest.
• Pruning: in the autumn, prune away the branches that bore fruit this year. Keep the young shoots; they will bear fruit next year.
• Open ground or pots: you can grow all small fruit in pots. The larger the pot, the better they will do. They will always grow better and produce more fruit in open ground.

TIP: Raspberries tend to spread by creating new root suckers. Install a root barrier or dig out the new shoots annually to keep the pot manageable.
