About Sarah
Hi, I'm Sarah Gaillaert and I've been working at Plukkers.com since May 2021. Before that, I already contributed to Moestuinweetjes.com.
My vegetable garden story began in 2017, when my family and I moved from an apartment to a terraced house. We finally had a garden, and we turned almost the entire thing into a vegetable patch. Ever since, I've been growing vegetables, small fruits, herbs, and flowers there with great pleasure. Every season, I try out new things and gain a little more practical experience.
At the time, I was still working in the healthcare sector, but the vegetable garden took up more and more of my free time. I was already following Tom on YouTube and one thing led to another. What started as a hobby eventually grew into my profession.
At Plukkers.com, I write growing guides and recipes, in which I try to share my own experiences as much as possible. In addition, I enjoy testing new products and cultivation methods in our vegetable garden. This way, we discover in practice what works well – and sometimes what works a little less well.
Besides the vegetable garden, you can often find me in the kitchen. From 2018 to 2022, I took weekly evening bakery classes, in which I completed several modules. The theory and practical knowledge I gained there come in handy today at Plukkers.com, among other things for developing and writing recipes.
And do you have a question for Plukkers.com? Then there's a good chance you'll end up with me. Together with Ben, I manage our customer service and help customers as best I can with their questions.
The best part of my job? That I get to spend every day doing things I love: growing, trying things out, learning, baking, and then sharing that knowledge with other Plukkers.

What do I do at Plukkers.com?
My tasks at Plukkers.com are quite varied, and that is exactly what I like about my job. One day I'm getting my hands dirty in the soil, the next I'm in the kitchen or answering customer questions.
A large part of my time goes into creating content for Plukkers.com. I write cultivation guides in which I combine my own experiences from the vegetable garden with the knowledge I have built up over the years. In addition, I write and test recipes. Especially when dough, bread, or pastries are involved, I can put my bakery training to good use.
I also enjoy testing new products myself. Because before I tell people how something works or what I think of it, I prefer to have had my hands in the soil myself first.
Furthermore, I handle customer service together with Ben. This gives me a chance to see a lot of questions from other gardeners. Sometimes we can help someone immediately, and sometimes we have to do a little research ourselves. I learn something new every day from that, too.
In short? I write, grow, test, bake, taste, help customers, and continue to learn something new every day. And that variety is exactly why I love my job so much.

Back to me for a moment
Even outside of work, it is hard to keep me away from the vegetable garden and the kitchen. I love trying out new things and still get excited whenever the first seeds sprout from the ground. And whatever comes from the garden naturally ends up in the kitchen quite often too.
By the way, I don't need to be perfect at everything. Crops fail here sometimes, a loaf of bread comes out of the oven differently than planned, or an experiment doesn't go as I had hoped. But that is exactly what I enjoy so much about it: trying, discovering why something does or doesn't work, and doing it again the next time.
Hopefully, my growing guides, recipes, and experiences will mainly inspire you to get started yourself. Because ultimately, you learn to garden—and bake—by simply doing it.
Happy growing and baking!
Warm regards, Sarah
