Broad bean 'Witkiem' BIO
These Organic broad bean seeds Witkiem can be sown in the open ground, preferably in full sun, from mid-February. The young plants can tolerate some frost. Loosen the soil to a depth of at least 30 cm. Broad beans can be planted on well-fertilized soil but not on long-term wet and cold soil. Place a stick at the beginning and end of the sowing row and stretch a rope between them. Make a hole every 10 cm along the stretched rope and put 1 bean in it. Close the holes again, so that the beans are 6 to 7 cm below the ground. Press the soil lightly and spray the soil with water when it is dry. Remove the rope and place a plant label with the name of the seed at the beginning of the row. Sow multiple rows at a distance of 70 cm from each other. These organically grown seeds are certified by the SKAL foundation. You can recognize these products by the Organic quality mark and the terms 'Bio' or 'Organic'.

Saving seeds
Saving seeds
Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.
You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :
- Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
- Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
- Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
- After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
