The Yuzu is a hardy citrus tree that can withstand cold temperatures down to -10°C and has large thorns. This self-pollinating tree grows to 2-3 meters in the open ground, but can also be kept in a pot, where it remains smaller. Yuzu is a highly sought-after Japanese citrus variety, famous among star chefs for its unique, aromatic peel that has notes of mandarin, lime and a characteristic Yuzu scent.

The fruits resemble a round, slightly rough lemon and can be picked either yellow/orange for a complex aroma or green for a more spicy kick. Yuzu is used in a wide variety of dishes from sushi to desserts and can also be turned into marmalade or candied peel.

Please note: this is not a grafted plant. This Yuzu is therefore less resistant to frost than the other Yuzu we sell that is grafted. Protect the plant from severe and persistent frost. However, this plant has been in Ruud's greenhouse for years in the winter and has had no problems there.
