Reine Claude d'Oullins is a French classic that has been on the market since 1860, and for good reason. The large, round plums have a green-yellow skin and exceptionally juicy, honey-sweet flesh with an aromatic flavor. In summer, the tree is almost completely covered in yellow fruit—a generous harvest that surprises year after year.

Delicious fresh from the tree, but also unbeatable for jam, compote, and desserts. Self-pollinating; a second tree is not necessary but does increase the yield.

What is a dwarf tree?
Dwarf means that the tree is grafted onto a slow-growing rootstock, which causes the trees to bear fruit sooner and stay smaller in height. The advantages of this are that they are suitable for smaller (vegetable) gardens, allowing you to grow more varieties in the same space. It is also convenient that you can harvest easily and safely without a long ladder.

Tips and care:

• Planting: because the trees are delivered in pots, they can be planted year-round. Preferably plant in the autumn in a sunny, sheltered spot in lime-rich, nutritious, and well-draining soil.
• Pruning: prune after harvesting, never in winter. Reine Claude d'Oullins is a fast grower and requires slightly more pruning than other plum trees. Thin the fruit in June to prevent branch breakage during a heavy crop.
• Nutrition: fertilize with a moderate amount of organic fertilizer in the spring. Plums love lime-rich, nutritious soil.
• Ground or pots: they will always grow better and produce more fruit in open ground.
• Support: provide support the first year with a stake and tree tie.

TIP: Plums do not have a long shelf life; eat them as soon as possible after harvesting. Fresh plums can be frozen as puree: peel, pit, boil with a splash of water and sugar to taste. This way, you have plum puree ready all winter long!
