Dwarf pear tree 'Conference' – 5-litre pot

Conference is one of the most beloved pear varieties, and for good reason. The large, elongated pears have a greenish-yellow skin with brown russeting, juicy light orange flesh, and a wonderfully sweet taste. They are ready for harvest starting in September and are perfect for eating fresh or using in desserts and compote.

A self-pollinating, easy-to-care-for tree that thrives in small gardens. For an even richer harvest, plant a pollinator nearby such as 'Beurre Hardy', 'Clapp's Favourite', or 'Doyenne du Comice'.

What is a dwarf tree?
Dwarf means the tree is grafted onto a slow-growing rootstock, which allows the trees to bear fruit sooner and grow less tall. The advantages of this are that they are suitable for smaller (vegetable) gardens, allowing you to grow more varieties in the same space. It is also convenient that you can harvest easily, safely, and without a long ladder.

Tips and care:

• Planting: because the trees are supplied in pots, they can be planted year-round. Preferably plant in autumn in a sunny, slightly sheltered spot in nutrient-rich, well-draining soil.
• Pruning: prune halfway in winter. Trim newly formed branches back to 20 cm. Remove wild shoots in the summer for a healthy, open canopy.
• Nutrition: fertilize annually in the spring with an organic fertilizer for healthy growth and a good harvest.
• Open ground or pots: they will always grow better and produce more fruit in open ground.
• Support: provide support in the first year with a stake and tree tie.

TIP: Conference is also excellent for use as an espalier tree against a wall or fence, perfect for smaller gardens where space is limited!
