Peach tree 'Rubira' dwarf – 5-liter pot

Rubira is a unique peach tree that stands out all year round, not only for its fruit but also for its decorative red leaves. In spring, it features beautiful pink blossoms; in summer, deep red, juicy, and extremely tasty peaches; and in autumn, a lovely red leaf color. A true eye-catcher in any garden.

The fruits are sweet, aromatic, and have a deep red to purple color. Perfect for fresh consumption, jam, or desserts. Self-pollinating, you don't need a second tree for a rich harvest.

What is a dwarf tree?
A dwarf tree means that the tree is grafted onto a slow-growing rootstock, which makes the trees bear fruit sooner and grow less tall. The advantages of this are that they are suitable for smaller (vegetable) gardens, allowing you to grow more varieties in the same space. It is also convenient that you can harvest easily, safely, and without a long ladder.

Tips and care:

• Planting: preferably plant in autumn in a warm, sunny, and sheltered spot, preferably against a south-facing wall. Rubira grows well in all soil types, as long as the soil is humus-rich and well-draining.
• Pruning: always prune in summer after harvesting, never in autumn or winter. Peaches bear fruit on shoots formed the previous year. Cut away the shoots that held fruit this year to give new shoots space for next year. Ensure an open structure.
• Leaf curl: Rubira can be susceptible to leaf curl. Plant in a sheltered, sunny spot and fertilize well for a healthy and resilient tree. Remove affected leaves immediately.
• Nutrition: fertilize every spring before flowering with an organic-mineral fertilizer.
• Support: provide support with a stake and tree tie for the first year.

TIP: Because of its red leaves, Rubira is a real eye-catcher in the garden even outside of fruit season. A fruit tree that also serves as an ornamental tree!
