Chicory roots, or endive roots, form the basis for growing delicious fresh chicory. These roots are specially grown and selected for forcing chicory in dark spaces, a process in which the roots grow into the typical chicory stumps in ideal conditions. These chicory roots have already undergone a cold period and are, after some trimming of the foliage, immediately ready for planting.

By placing the roots in a dark, cool space and watering regularly, the characteristic heads will develop after a few weeks. Can be grown with or without top soil.

Chicory roots are a natural product. In order to grow high-quality chicory, they are stored in the refrigerator for 14 days after harvesting. We have already done this for you. The foliage that is still on the root dies off and becomes a bit slimy. Before you plant these roots, you must cut the foliage to 2-3 cm and remove the dead leaves. The photos show chicory roots that have already been cut. The roots are harvested and cut mechanically. As a result, the roots are not all the same length or thickness. Delicious chicory will also grow on the shorter roots.
