Blackcurrant or cassis berry is best known for its use in desserts or as cassis syrup. The shrub is self-pollinating and the berries have a sweet and sour cassis taste.

Organically Certified Planting Material

• Planting: September to March (not during severe frost), after that it is also possible but keep in mind that you will have to give extra water during warm weather because the roots are not yet well established. The blackcurrant grows as a shrub and therefore does not need support.
• Pruning : The blackcurrant should be pruned in the fall. However, the plants do not need much pruning, certainly not in the first few years. However, if the plant becomes too large or the yield decreases, some pruning may be necessary
• Open ground or pots: You can grow all soft fruit in pots, the bigger the pot the better they will do. They will always grow better and produce more fruit in the open ground.
