Blue lupine is a fast-growing, annual legume primarily used as a green manure and soil improver. Because this variety is free of bittering agents, it is also suitable for consumption and as animal feed. The plants reach a height of approximately 80 cm and freeze completely in winter.

As a leguminous plant, blue lupine fixes nitrogen from the air, naturally enriching the soil. The crop also contributes to improved soil structure, more active soil life, and prevents mineral leaching.

Use as green manure:

  • Improving soil structure
  • Adding organic matter to the soil
  • Suppressing weeds
  • Fixing nitrogen and adding it to the soil

Sowing and planting information:

  • One bag is sufficient for at least 10 m²

Different types of seeds

What is the difference between organic, F1 hybrid, heirloom (open-pollinated), GMO, pill and conventional seeds? We explain it to you in this blog !

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
