Small Pineapple Cherry BIO

The yellow fruits have a pineapple-like taste. When the lantern dries and is transparent, the fruit can be eaten as a sweet snack, garnish or decoration on a cake. One bag is for approximately 3 m2, and the planting distance is 40x40 cm.

Small pineapple cherry produces small, yellow fruits with a pineapple-like taste. The fruits are ready to eat when the lantern dries and is transparent. Delicious as a sweet snack, beautiful as a garnish and a cheerful decoration for your cake.

Pre-sowing is possible in March and planting out is possible in the period April-May. After hardening off the seedlings, place the plants in a warm, sunny and sheltered spot in the open ground at a planting distance of 40x40 cm. The plants grow to about 60-90 cm high. Provide sturdy support and protect the plants from night frost and wind.

You can harvest the berries in August and September, as soon as the lantern dries out and becomes transparent.

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
