Blue grape 'Sweety' – Vitis vinifera – 4-litre pot – 80cm tall – seedless

Sweety is a seedless blue grape with aromatic, sweet and juicy fruit. The name says it all. From September, the grapes ripen into deep, blue-black berries that can be eaten straight from the plant. No seeds, lots of flavour and a wonderfully aromatic character that sets it apart from other blue grape varieties.

A self-pollinating, very hardy climber that thrives along a pergola, wall or fence. Ideal for those who want to enjoy their own fresh grapes without any fuss, perfect for children and adults alike.

Tips and care:

• Planting: plant in a warm, sunny and sheltered spot in well-drained, lime-rich soil. Preferably against a south-facing wall for maximum warmth and ripening of the fruit.
• Support: train the grape plant along a pergola, wall or fence. The bunches of grapes will then hang down nicely and the plant will receive the best support.
• Pruning: prune in late winter by the end of February when it is not freezing and in sunny, dry weather. Remove excess branches in July or August. Trim the leaves in front of the bunches in the final weeks before harvest for better ripening and larger fruit.
• Nutrition: give an extra boost with grape fertiliser early in the spring and repeat in the summer for a rich harvest full of bunches.
• Water: water regularly during the growth period, especially in dry spells. Avoid waterlogging the roots.

TIP: Seedless grapes are ideal for children and perfect as a snack, on a cheese board or in a fruit salad. For the best harvest, plant Sweety preferably against a south-facing wall for maximum warmth and sun!
