Tips and care

• Planting: plant the gladiolus bulbs in spring (March to May), once the danger of night frost has passed. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot in well-draining, nutritious soil and plant them about 10 cm deep with the point facing upwards.

• Maintenance: provide the plants with sufficient water during dry spells. Due to their impressive height, it is wise to provide the stems with some support in windy locations.

• Overwintering: as the gladiolus is sensitive to frost, dig up the bulbs in the autumn. After drying, store them in a cool, frost-free place until the following spring.

• Garden beds or pots: highly suitable for group planting in the ground or in large, sturdy patio pots.
