Rubus idaeus 'Héritage' is a popular, autumn-bearing raspberry bush known for its high yield, firm fruits, and long harvest period. It produces delicious, fruity berries from early August until the first frost. It's an easy plant to grow and thrives in both open ground and large pots.

Raspberries tend to overgrow by producing many new root shoots underground. If this is a problem, you can create a root barrier or dig up the new shoots each year and put them on the compost heap, or divide them.

Tips and care:

• Planting: Plant the shrubs from September to March. If you plant later in the season, keep in mind that you'll need to provide extra water in warm weather, as the roots aren't yet well established.
• Pruning: Cut back all stems completely to the ground in winter.
• Open ground or pots: you can grow all soft fruit in pots; the larger the pot, the better they will do. They will always grow better and produce more fruit in the open ground. In the open ground, this variety does require support in the form of a fence, trellis, or wire tied to posts.

TIP: For a longer harvest period in summer and fall, plant both fall and summer raspberries.
