Loganberry (Rubus loganobaccus - raspberry/blackberry hybrid) - 2-litre pot

This is a delicious hybrid between a blackberry and a raspberry. This plant has light thorns and grows long branches that can be easily trained along a fence. Make sure the berries are fully ripe before picking them, otherwise they can be sour.

You can eat loganberries fresh or use them to make jam, juice, or wine. They are packed with healthy nutrients. The plant thrives in full sun, but also grows in partial shade.

• Planting: September to March (not during severe frost); planting is also possible afterwards, but keep in mind that you will need to provide extra water during warm weather because the roots are not yet well established.

• Pruning: The loganberry should be pruned in the autumn. Remove the old fruit canes, which are the branches that bore fruit during the past season. These branches will no longer produce new fruit and are best removed. Also check the support and ensure the branches are properly secured to the fence or supports. This helps the plant stay upright and ensures the fruit is well supported.

• Open ground or pots: You can grow all small fruits in pots; the larger the pot, the better they will do. They will always grow better and produce more fruit in open ground. In open ground, this variety requires support via a fence, trellis, or by being tied to wires stretched between posts. You can find wires and tensioners in our webshop; the posts can be ordered, among other places, via https://www.mijnduurzaamhout.nl/.
