Felicia vine on rootstock 3309 - also edible grape (Piwi - resistant)
General information about the vine variety Felicia:
In the vineyard, Felicia can be recognized by its strikingly shiny leaves.
Grape :
Typical for this grape variety are the large and loose berries, which are also suitable for direct consumption. With three to four grapes per twig, this grape variety has a relatively high yield.
The grapes are ripe at the time that Müller Thurgau is ripe (around mid-September). These grapes are also suitable as eating or table grapes.
Resistance variety Felicia :
Average resistance to downy mildew. It is advised to treat 1 to 2 times.
High resistance to powdery mildew.
Due to the loose grape structure, Felicia is relatively insensitive to botrytis.
Wine :
Felicia is known for producing a light and delicately fruity wine. The subtle bouquet is characterized by fine, ripe fruit aromas such as apple, apricot and banana, which in some years are combined with a light nutmeg. The wine has a harmonious acidity. Due to the predominantly subtle wine style, the variety is also an interesting cuvée partner.
Preparation of vine variety Felicia :
Put your vine in a bucket of water for 24 hours. This way it can suckle itself full again before planting out.
Ground preparation :
You can improve your soil with lava grit (if lime soil) or with bentonite and lava flour (if sandy soil).
Planting out :
Make a hole with a diameter of 10 cm and +/- 30 cm deep with a ground drill or spade. And plant the vine with the graft just above the ground. The vine may come out of the ground between 5 and 10 cm. Plant your vines between May 1 and May 15 and leave 1 meter between the plants and 1.5 to 1.8 meters between the rows.
