White grape 'Sulima' – Vitis vinifera – 4-litre pot

Sulima is a seedless grape variety with large, long clusters. The grapes are crunchy, sweet with a slight acidity and a subtle muscat flavour. They are elongated with thin skin, ideal for eating fresh straight from the plant. The plant is self-pollinating and not susceptible to powdery mildew or downy mildew. A major advantage compared to many other grape varieties.

A strong, reliable climber that thrives excellently in our climate. Thanks to its mildew resistance and seedless nature, Sulima is one of the easiest grapes to grow yourself for both beginners and experienced gardeners.

Tips and care:

• Planting: plant in a warm, sunny and sheltered spot in well-drained, calcareous or clay-rich soil. Preferably against a south-facing wall for maximum warmth and ripening.
• Support: train the grape plant along a pergola, wall or fence. This allows the grape clusters to hang down nicely and gives the plant the best support.
• Pruning: prune in late winter by the end of February when there is no frost. In July or August, remove unnecessary branches and trim the foliage in front of the clusters in the final weeks before harvest for better ripening and larger fruit.
• Feeding: fertilise in March/April with organic fruit fertiliser. An extra dose in May stimulates cluster formation and fruit development.
• Water: water regularly during the growing season, especially during dry periods. Avoid waterlogging at the roots.

TIP: Thanks to its mildew resistance, Sulima requires much less maintenance than other grape varieties. Perfect for those who want to enjoy their own grapes without much fuss!
