Leek 'Blauwgroene Herfst' suffers less from signs of wear in late autumn-winter and can tolerate quite a lot of frost. Requires nutritious and deeply loosened soil. Due to the slow initial development, it is wise to sow leeks (both summer and autumn leeks) thinly from the end of March to mid-May and only plant them out in April at 40x15cm. If necessary, put them together towards the winter and cover them in case of severe frost. 1 bag for approx. 10 m². During the winter months, the leek 'stands still' and the plant will not grow any further; the storage life of the leek in the ground depends on the severity of the winter and to what extent the leek is in a sheltered spot. We advise growers to closely monitor the health of the leek during the winter months; and if the leek shows signs of weakness, we advise harvesting all the leeks immediately.

Saving seeds
Saving seeds
Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.
You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :
- Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
- Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
- Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
- After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
