Radicchio Rosso 'Leonardo F1' is suitable for late summer and autumn cultivation. This variety (red with white leaves) is very bolting tolerant, and produces firm round heads. Strong against edge. Very uniform. Chioggia Type. This hybrid variety has been developed for professional cultivation. Radicchio Rosso is originally an Italian vegetable. The leaf in the head is intensely red and white in colour, and therefore very suitable for use in colourful salads. The leaf is quite bitter in taste when raw. The leaf is also very suitable for stewing and baking, and will therefore become less bitter and sweeter in taste. Sow from May-June, plant in June and July, for a harvest in September, October and November. Keep a planting distance of 30x40 cm. This variety is not suitable for cultivation in warm summers. Slight frost tolerance. This variety prefers relatively low temperatures, and is preferably planted in a well-drained soil, with a high humus and moisture content. The heads can be stored reasonably well in the refrigerator, at least 1 week. Due to the dense head shape, Radicchio Rosso, especially when planted late and/or during long periods of rain, can be sensitive to infection by blotch and bulb rot. These seeds are provided with an organically certified coating which makes sowing easier.
