The soybean Edamame 'Chiba Green' is an early variety that delivers a quick harvest. This soybean has a pod with three dark green, large beans each. These have a delicious, nutty flavour. A bag weighs 50 grams and is suitable for approximately 3 m2.

Soybean Edamame 'Chiba Green' is an early and productive variety with compact, upright plants. The large pods each contain three beans and ripen simultaneously, which allows for a fast and efficient harvest. Depending on the season, the cultivation time is 75 to 90 days. 'Chiba Green' soybeans are nice and large and have a delicious flavor that is best enjoyed when eaten freshly steamed. Harvest the pods 2 weeks in advance, before they ripen, for the edamame beans. They can also be easily dried for later consumption.

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
