Vera's vegetable garden – permaculture month by month
In Vera's vegetable garden Vera Greutink takes you month by month into her own permaculture vegetable garden to show you how you can harvest varied crops from your own garden all year round, even in winter. She generously describes her experiences with well-known and lesser-known varieties and cultivars, and which ones are successful for which purpose. She also pays a lot of attention to polycultures (combining vegetables, herbs and flowers) to efficiently use your soil and make your garden resilient.
She shares her expertise to advance and extend the harvest. Clear explanations about creating an asparagus bed (lucrative!), cutting sweet potatoes, growing flowers, choosing fruit trees, harvesting seeds and the different ways to store your vegetable garden harvest or process it into simple tasty dishes: this book is bursting with practical knowledge that you will not find anywhere else.
Vera is an experienced and attentive vegetable gardener. Her pragmatic tips and tricks are smart helpers for the hobby gardener. Thanks to the use of permaculture methods, she knows how to keep garden maintenance to a minimum and at the same time creates a vegetable garden that is resilient to climate change. She uses permaculture methods extensively in her vegetable garden and shows that permaculture can be applied in an orderly, strict and effortless manner. It is not without reason that she reaches a large audience.
Vera Greutink lives in Twente, where she has grafted her vegetable garden, surrounded by a food forest, onto permaculture methods. She is a garden designer, gives courses and writes for various garden magazines and was editor-in-chief of De tuin op tafel. In 2022 she was a guest on the TV program Binnenstebuiten. More than 12,000 copies of her previous book Tuin Smakelijk have now been sold. You can see her garden at www.tuinsmakelijk.nl
