The yuzu is a hardy citrus tree that can reach 2-3 meters in the ground, but also thrives in a pot, where it remains smaller. Because it is grafted, it is more resistant to the Dutch and Belgian climate. It can tolerate temperatures down to -18°C and has substantial spines. This self-pollinating yuzu is a highly sought-after Japanese citrus variety, renowned among Michelin-starred chefs for its unique, aromatic peel with notes of mandarin, lime, and a characteristic yuzu scent.

The fruits resemble a round, slightly rough lemon and can be picked either yellow or orange for a complex aroma or green for a more intense flavor. Yuzu is used in a wide variety of dishes, from sushi to desserts, and can also be made into marmalade or candied peel.

Tips and care:

• Planting: Because the trees are delivered in pots, they can be planted year-round. It's best to plant in the fall, when the soil is still warm and moist, allowing the trees to take root well. Plants planted in the fall have a more developed root system than those planted in the spring.
• Organic/non-organic: This plant material comes from a small-scale grower without an official organic certificate. But don't worry, we're certain it's pesticide-free.
• Note: Citrus plants can sometimes have slightly yellowish leaves in winter. This is because they shouldn't be fed during the winter, as this would cause them to grow too quickly. New growth is then at greater risk of freezing. Feed them in the spring, and the plant will turn a beautiful green again.
