Growing carrots all year round in 5 steps

Hoe zaai kweek ik wortelen

Carrots are easy to grow in the vegetable garden and contain many vitamins and beta-carotene. Give them loose, rich soil without clods and stones and a soil temperature between 8 and 29°C. Yes, you read between the lines correctly: You can grow carrots at any time of the year, even in the winter with some protection or in the greenhouse . Short carrots such as Paris Market or Carrot Nantes 2 can be grown in 60-70 days. Ideal if you want to grow carrots all year round. Carrots are slow germinators. Especially in the winter in the greenhouse or early spring in the vegetable garden, it is best to provide some protection in the form of fleece or a blanket. Fleece is very light and very insulating, so it is more suitable for protecting carrot seeds and mini plants.

About the blogger

My name is Tom and I am co-owner of Plukkers.com. I am the father of two beautiful daughters and I have a wonderful wife. When I turned a bare spot in the lawn into a herb garden in 2014, I got a very special feeling inside. I immediately felt that it was not a whim but the start of an irresistible and fiery passion. I wanted to know everything and also wrote down what I learned on my website Moestuinweetjes, which is now called Plukkers.com. I also want to inspire other people to grow their own food. At my house in Wielsbeke is my dream garden with a greenhouse, vegetable garden and a hobby vineyard with 333 vines. In addition to wine, I also make delicious beer at home to occasionally celebrate life in moderation. I toast with you to an exciting, richly filled life under the motto: "Make it yourself!"
