The yellow dogwood owes its name to the yellow blossom that hangs on the tree in February-March. The fruits are generally red in color and look a bit like cherries, which is why the yellow dogwood is also called dogwood cherry. Dogwoods must be very ripe to have a good taste, but are delicious then. It often helps to leave the fruits on the table for a few days to develop their flavor. Processing into jam or drying is also very possible.
The variety 'Juliusz' is large-fruited and therefore has much larger fruits than a wild yellow dogwood. The yellow dogwood is very winter-hardy, likes to be in the sun and forms a large shrub/tree of 4-5 meters high. Yellow dogwoods tolerate pruning well.
