Dwarf nectarine (Prunus persica nucipersica 'Flavortop') – 5-liter pot
Flavortop is a productive, self-pollinating nectarine tree that produces large, juicy fruits every year with firm, aromatic yellow flesh and a glossy red skin. The taste is sweet and rich; eaten fresh from the tree on a warm August day, this is pure summer indulgence. An added benefit: the tree blooms profusely with deep pink flowers as early as February-March, making it a real eye-catcher in early spring.
The dwarf tree grows compactly (approx. 2.5–3.5 m), making it suitable for smaller gardens or pots. Thanks to self-pollination, you do not need a second tree for a rich harvest.
What is a dwarf tree?
Dwarf means the tree is grafted onto a slow-growing rootstock, allowing the trees to bear fruit sooner and stay shorter. The benefits are that they are suitable for smaller (vegetable) gardens, allowing you to grow more varieties in the same space. It is also convenient that you can harvest easily, safely, and without a long ladder.

Tips and care:
-
Planting: because the trees are supplied in pots, they can be planted all year round. Plant preferably in a sheltered, sunny spot, preferably against a south-facing wall for maximum warmth. Nectarines grow well in all soil types, as long as the soil is humus-rich and well-draining.
-
Pruning: always prune after harvesting in the summer; never in the autumn or winter. Nectarines bear fruit on shoots formed the previous year. Cut away the shoots that bore fruit this year to give new shoots space for the following year. Ensure an open structure so that light can reach every part of the tree.
-
Nutrition: fertilize every spring before flowering with an organic-mineral fertilizer. Apply a layer of compost around the base of the tree in the autumn.
-
Water: provide a full bucket of water every week during the first year so the roots can establish well. Also provide extra water during dry spells after that, especially during fruit set.
-
Ground or pots: you can also grow dwarf nectarines in pots; the larger the pot, the better they will do. They will always grow better and produce more fruit in the open ground.
-
Support: provide support with a stake for the first year for sturdy growth.
TIP: Nectarines are best kept in a cool, dry place. Not in the refrigerator, as that comes at the expense of the flavor. Depending on ripeness at the time of picking, they will keep for about a week. But fresh from the tree, they always taste the best!
